From The Chairman
Welcome to our website, and you join us in most unusual times. Following two concerts cancelled due to Coronavirus, we are looking forwards, and planning our next season 2020/21, when we hope to be singing again and would like your company.
Firstly, we are delighted to be joined by our new Musical Director, Lee Dunleavy, whose impressive CV you can read over on our home page. Lee’s enthusiasm and experience will definitely spark a new fire in us all as we work together to find a way to re-start our singing. Plans are in place for an October ‘Come and Sing’, open to all, at All Saints’ Warwick, singing a selection of favourite choruses from Hallelujah( Messiah), to Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring (Bach), to O, Fortuna (Orff). Our November concert will be Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, followed by a Christmas afternoon concert in December to sing some old favourites, with Kingsley School choir and brass band, both in All Saints’, Leamington Spa.
January begins with a ‘Come and Sing’, again open to all, of Mozart Mass in C, then we work towards a highlight of the year, Bach’s Mass in B Minor with Charivari Agréable. This will be a treat for all as the Mass is considered one of the great choral works of all time. Our finale to the season will be Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, with children’s choir and percussion in the excellent venue of Warwick Hall.
Our fervent hope is that these plans can be fulfilled, but due to the unknown timing of venues re-opening, we shall update the website as appropriate. There is so much to look forward to, let’s hope it will all proceed.
I look forward to welcoming old and new members for a great 2020/21 season, and just to tempt you, we are already planning 2021/22 as a season of Vespers with – you guessed it – Rachmaninov and Montiverdi!
I hope to see you all soon,
