Welcome to the Bach Choir’s 80th season of singing.
We have an ambitious selection of concerts planned for this 2019/20 season, starting with a Come and Sing for all on Saturday 14th September at Holy Trinity church. If you are looking for a choir, then come and join us to sing Karl Jenkins The Armed Man, we are confident you will like us!
Our November concert will be Fauré Requiem and Elgar The Music Makers, accompanied by Colin Druce on organ, and, following quickly on December 14th, we welcome the choir of Kingsley School to join us for traditional Christmas Carols. We shall be accompanied by a brass quintet and hope to welcome families at the earlier time of 3pm.
The New Year Come and Sing once again welcomes all singers to join us for Mozart’s Coronation Mass, again at Holy Trinity, and another chance to audition to join the Bach Choir. Our Spring concert will be Chilcott’s St John Passion and JS Bach’s Jesu, meine Freude. The Chilcott piece follows the Bach tradition, and singing Bach at our 80th anniversary concert reminds us of the choir’s origins.
Our season finale will be a spectacular performance of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius on July 18th in Coventry Cathedral, accompanied by the English Symphony Orchestra, and we are delighted to be joined on this occasion by Congleton Choral Society. This will surely be a high point to end what I hope will be an enjoyable and exciting season of singing.
All our concerts are conducted by our musical director, Christopher Cromar.
Auditions will be held on the first three weeks of term, starting on September 4th, so come and join us … you are very welcome.
