Welcome to the Bach Choir’s 2018-19 season of music.
If you are new to the area and looking for a choir, or are thinking of returning to singing after a break, then come and join us any Wednesday evening at Lillington School.
This is a year of transition for the choir, as we have already seen the retirement of Nigel Stark and the arrival of our new Musical Director, Christopher Cromar.
Nigel Stark directed the Bach Choir for thirteen years, and in that time challenged us with programmes including everything from Oratorio to Opera, Bach to Bernstein, and many more in between! Under his baton the choir has performed a variety of music, some of it new to us, and we have all learned and grown as musicians.
In the Spring we sang Mozart’s Requiem and Haydn’s Theresa Mass, directed by our new Musical Director, Christopher Cromar and performed in All Saints’ Church, Leamington Spa. We were accompanied by the Beauchamp Sinonietta, a local orchestra with whom we often work, supporting each other in the varied music in the South Warwickshire area.
In Summer 2019 we are delighted to announce a special event for the choir – a performance of Classic FM presenter John Brunning’s recently premiered new work, Five Unaccompanied Motets. We will also be singing his ‘Amazing Day’ and John Rutter’s Feel the Spirit. This is a wonderful opportunity for the choir and will be performed at All Saints’ Church. It may even be recorded for Classic FM…watch this space.
